Who should attend:
EVERY PARENT/CARE-GIVER/FOSTER PARENT and/or EXTENDED FAMILY raising a child who is experiencing challenging behaviours - this workshop presentation is for you! As well as for every K to 12 Classroom Teacher, School Counsellors and Psychologists, Learning Assistance/
Resource Teachers, School Administrators, School Paraprofessionals including
Education Assistants, Classroom Assistants and Childcare Workers.
All other professionals who support students with social, emotional and/or behavioural challenges and
complex learning needs including but not limited to: Nurses, Social Workers,
Psychologists, Clinical Counsellors, Family Therapists, Occupational Therapists,
Speech Language Pathologists, Addiction Counsellors, Youth Workers, Mental
Health Workers, Probation Officers and Community Police Officers
At the conclusion of this workshop, participants will be able to:
- Understand the six key themes of the Collaborative & Proactive Solutions model;
- Identify and assess lagging skills and unsolved problems using the Assessment of Lagging Skills and Unsolved Problems (ALSUP);
- Understand the three options (Plans A, B and C) for handling unsolved problems;
- Understand the three steps that are involved in solving problems collaboratively, and the difficult aspects of each step.
